Default To you iPhone guys...

I forgot how many of you guys had 'em. Just curious -- do all of you use AT&T, or does anybody here use an 'unlocked' iPhone? If so, how does it work 'features wise'? Anything locked out?

I <3 t-mobile's service -- but I haven't bought myself a new toy in a while. If it's at all necessary, I'll probably switch back to AT&T, I just hate to get suckered into their 'gotta have us if you want an iPhone' routine.

Don't go with ATT, their service sucks and their network can't even handle all of their traffic. Wait for the Palm Pre to be released on all of the other networks, or go to sprint. My speeds are very comparable to ATT (when it's in a good coverage spot, but who has those?).

I'm a huge pre fan. I've gotten two friends to get rid of their iphones and get a pre and so far all of my friends with pres have no regretted getting them. :-D

(This is not intended to dis the iphone as I haev said before it is an exceptional phone, but not for me and I think highly overrated)

I've had AT&T since I got my iPhone ( over a year and a half ago) and I've very rarely had a problem. The network handles everything just fine. I went away from Sprint after having them for 10 years and they were by far the worst phone / service provider out there. As I got out of my contract I was one of millions trying to do the same thing. Sprint lost roughly 20-30 million subscribers due to their service (phone and customer) and not knowing how to run a business.

There is a reason they are stilll way behind the curve and trying everything down to having their CEO in commercials to try and survive.

Again, I've always had AT&T with the iPhone and I don't have any problems and I practically live on it. I have 5 different email accounts going to it, a few hundred contacts, I blow through a ton of minutes, I travel off the beaten path quite a bit... you name it.

Well in CA, ATT coverage blows monkey cock. Period. They have shitty customer service and their coverage just is patchy and slow, unreliable.

I live off my phone and have no problems. I did over 7k texts last month and over 200mb of data (and I'm on wifi at home/work so that doesn't count towards my data). My minutes are much fewer though, less than 500 a month.

I just like the way t-mobile has things set up.

I have unlimited text, so I don't have to worry about that...but I wonder how many minutes I have left? I just dial #243# and it tells me. It also warns me that I'm over my minutes before answering / placing a call during daytime&weekday hours...to me, just feels like they're actually NOT trying to rape me outta my money.

I used to <3 Cingular, but things kinda became cold & corporate when AT&T bought them.

And speaking of iPhones and Palm Pre's and whatevers, anyone play with the G1? We got them in at work -- stop and play with one if you get the chance. Neat little machines.

I use AT&T for my iPhone with no issues. Coverage is as good as it can be in Alaska; better than any of the local carriers. In and around town we have coverage, outside of town no one does between here and Anchorage, except for a few spots here and there. They've been updating the towers around here for the last year or so and we should be getting 3G soon. Never had any issues with billing or anything. In Texas I had coverage everywhere I went.

I use my phone for everything but a phone it seems like. Once in a blue moon I'll talk to my wife or work, that's it. Sometimes I text a couple buddies in Michigan or my wife. So as far as minutes/texts go, I'm just fine with it. 99% of the time I use data it's via wi-fi.

Well since I'm a manager at a Sprint Store I would say that I like Sprint and the Palm Pre would be the way to go. I'm personally and android fan though. I like the opensource.

As far as "unlocked," yes you do lose features. T-Mobile has a significantly decreased bandwidth that AT&T offers. AT&T is still slow compared to Sprint and Verizon, which is why the iPhone has random data slowness, but it really is a cool phone! Lot's of apps and lot's of fun! Verizon is getting the iPhone soon and possibly Sprint and T-Mobile will as well. If Verizon and Sprint are getting it, you would be better off waiting for one of those becuase the network has more capabilities so the future of the app market would probably have more intense programs that the current network just isn't capable of running.

Pre may not be open source, but it isn't far from it. Palm even openly supports the home brew community. Freaking awesome. The pre could use better hardware, but WebOS is amazing IMO.
